ABYA Newsletter August 2014

I hope you have had a good summer with plenty of business and time for a holiday with the family. We are now back into boat show season with all that brings. We were pleased to be asked to work with Boatshop 24 on their Southampton International Boat Show supplement looking at boat buying activities.

The office has two new members of staff – Joanne Hickman (right) who is working with Dawn on Certifying Authority (CA) matters and Nicola Schofield (left) who is part-time answering the phones, and generally assisting in the office. Sue Dorking has moved over from the CA to be our Accounts Executive.

Tony Staton-Bevan celebrated his retirement on 4 July 2014 – 32 years less one day at Berthons Marina. He became a YDSA member on 5 July 1982, operating out of Lymington. He was a staunch member, being both Chairman of YDSA and YBDSA President, and was at the forefront of activity in the GRP revolution.  His retirement reception was attended by other, now retired members – Peter Tier, Bob Brinton, Richard Seymour (lovely to see them again) – as well as other local members and Berthon staff.

Craig is working on some standard forms to assist the CA and clients and we are also developing web-based forms as well as pdfs that can be filled in on screen or printed and completed by hand. We are introducing electronic payments across all our activities. Please note that due to stricter banking regulations, cheques must now be made payable to ‘YBDSA Holdings Ltd’, not just YBDSA.

The dates for the training/dinner and AGM have come round in an email, but in case you missed it – 12 and 13 November – Henley River and Rowing Museum. The dinner will be at the Red Lion Hotel in Henley and I know some of you have booked to stay there overnight.
Best wishes,

Jane Gentry Chief Executive Officer of YBDSA, ABYA and YDSA
