Zodiac Open Pro 550

The Zodiac Pro 550 Open is a great family RIB, with comfortable seating, a wide beam and oversized tubes for stability, deep V hull for seakeeping, and practical features like forward grabrails and lots of storage. 'Ghost Rider' is presented in very good condition having clearly been lightly used and well cared for, with only three owners from new. She is fitted with a Mercury 90hp 4-stroke for a great blend of performance, economy, and low maintenance costs, last serviced approx. 25hrs ago, and comes with a Snipe braked trailer which has been professionally overhauled including new braking system, flush kit, wheels and tyres. A great package that represents excellent value for money in a condition that would put many far younger RIBs to shame, be quick as she won't be here long!

Layout

Fitted with a very practical layout for leisure use at this size with two fixed aft seats, two adjustable pedestal mounted bucket seats that can face aft, and a forward bow seat with raised grab rail, providing safe comfortable seating for up to 5/6 people. The console and screen is larger than most RIBs of this size and has stainless grab bars for safety, is offset to starboard to allow easy access forward, and pivots to give access to the large main locker ideal for storing toys, fishing rods, diving equipment, or even an inflatable kayak or two! Other useful features include a stainless steel bathing ladder and towing pole for watersports.

Mechanical Systems

Located on transom, Mercury F90 ELPT 90hp 4-stroke petrol outboard motor (new 2003). Single lever controls with power trim/tilt and electric start. Hydraulic wheel steering (upgraded from new). Aluminium propeller. Built-in fuel tank. Engine instrumentation.

The engine appears to have been well maintained and was last serviced professionally in winter 2020 ready for the 2021 season and has been very lightly used since (approx. 25hrs). This model is well thought of for its blend of economy, simple maintenance, and reliability. 

Electrical Systems

12v Battery (new 2021) charged via engine alternator. Electrical distribution panel. Battery isolator switch. 12v Charging socket.

Construction

Zodiac Pro 550 Open built by Zodiac International in 2002. White deep V wide beam GRP hull with rspray rails. Oversized low mounted (to increase stability and further reduce spray) light grey tubes with grab handles to port and starboard fitted with a deep protective rubbing strake. Moulded deck with bow anchor locker, forward V seat with grab rails, large helm console with storage hold, grab bars and screen, individual helm and navigators bucket seats and twin aft seats. Stainless steel towing pole.
