Description

1989 Cornish Crabbers Yawl "Sarah Jane" Lift keel with beaching legs currently afloat in Devon.

A nice example of this popular gaff cruiser. The Cornish Yawl was the first all grp boat from Cornish crabbers and gave rise to Crabber mark 2 and onward models. This example has been looked after well over the years and benefits from various upgrades over the last 5 years to keep her in tidy condition - 2023 saw the deck recored, 2024 saw new standing rigging, new cockpit cushions, new interior cushions, new heads. 2025 saw new cockpit duckboards in teak and some running rigging replaced.

She has been converted to retractable bowsprit as seen in the pictures. This reduces the overall length for mooring purposes and helps keep the cost of ownership down. As a consequence, she has new headsails with one seasons use.

Sarah Jane is the lift keel configuration and comes with beaching legs giving her the ability to anchor in less than 1m of water, dry out if required, yet still maintain deep keel advantages.

She has a Beta 20hp engine fitted which pushes her along comfortably at 6 knots in nearly all weather and sea conditions.

She also has Webasto diesel heating fitted and working.

As with all older boats, there are always jobs to do - she would benefit from some electrical tinkering, and the mizzen is currently off for some repair work.

Lying afloat in SW Devon. Please note she is on a swinging mooring so viewing must be booked in advance. She can be bought alongside a pontoon for easy access.
