RIVAL BOWMAN Bowman 48

Bowman 48DS, LYDIA is a special yacht. She has done what many only dream of and has sailed round the world under her keel, a voyage that was undertaken mostly single-handedly. This alone shows what a strong, capable and comfortable yacht she is. Originally built in 2001 to an incredibly high standard, she has stood the test of time. Her systems have been very well maintained and upgraded by her current custodians.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC or RCDII (2013/53/EU as appropriate (Recreational Craft Directive) and is categorised A – “Ocean” (or Cat B – whichever is appropriate)

 

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• Hand laid GRP hull with isophthalic resin; epoxy coated below waterline.
• Hull Colour: Flag Blue painted (2019).
• GRP superstructure, in off white.
• Teak external trim.
• Teak laid cockpit.
• Flexi teak ring deck (2021).

 

Keel & Rudder:

• Lead keel bolted externally.
• Skeg hung Grp foamed filled rudder on 2’’ stainless stock.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 1 x Perkins M92 64kW diesel engine.
• Hurth HSW 450A reduction gearbox; 2.04:1.

 

Maintenance & Performance:

• Cruising Speed: 6 knots @ 1200rpm
• Maximum Speed: 9 knots @ 2500rpm
• Fuel Consumption: approx. 4 litres per hour at 1200rpm.
• Cruising Range: approx.: 1,100 miles.
• Aquadrive replaced (2017) - Fully overhauled (2021).

 

Propulsion & Steering:

• Hydraulic linear drive unit (2025).
• Max Prop 3-bladed propeller.

Battery Banks:

• 6 x Service Batteries in 2 x 24V banks of 315-amp hrs replaced (2020).

• 1 x Dedicated 12V 120amp hr heavy duty battery for genset replaced (2020).
• All batteries have securing straps.

 

Battery Chargers:

• 24V 150-watt inverter battery charger.
• 2 x Engine batteries; 24V bank.

 

Generator:

• Fischer Panda PMS 400DS FC - 3.8kW/4.5Kva genset (2014) with dedicated 12V 120amp hr heavy duty battery (2020).
• All overhauled (2021).

 

Shore Power:

• 220V Shore power with ring main.

• Bimini with 2 x solar panels (2017).

Plumbing Systems

Fresh Water & Water Heating System:

• Hot water from 20L Isotherm Isotemp calorifier with 220V immersion (2021).
• Engine plumbed to heat water.

• Spectra Cape Horn Extreme (Unused since 2020 - not used in this ownership).

 

Bilge Pumps:

• Electric main bilge.

Fuel:

• 2 x Tanks aft for fuel - 50 gallons / 227 litres each - plus forward fuel tank - 70 gallons / 319 litres. Total capacity of 772 litres.

• Total capacity of 522 litres / 115 gallons in 2 x tanks (318 & 204 litres respectively).

 

Grey/Blackwater holding tanks:

• Grey and black water holding tank to forward and aft heads, and galley; replaced in polycarbonate (2014).
