This Hunter Horizon 32 Wheelhouse, built in 1987, is a well-regarded bilge keel cruising yacht offering comfortable accommodation, practical sailing performance, and the added benefit of a sheltered wheelhouse helm position—ideal for extended cruising in all weather conditions.
Powered by a reliable Yanmar 18HP diesel engine and benefiting from replacement standing rigging in 2017, she has been well maintained and carefully looked after by her current owner for the past 19 years. Her bilge keel configuration makes her particularly well-suited to East Coast and coastal cruising, with the flexibility of taking the ground when required.
Offering spacious accommodation, excellent visibility from the inside helm position, and a warm, practical interior, she is an ideal family cruiser or comfortable liveaboard option. Now reluctantly offered for sale only due to the owner’s planned move to Greece.

The 1987 Hunter Horizon 32 Wheelhouse offers surprisingly spacious and practical accommodation for a 32-foot cruiser, with the major advantage of its enclosed wheelhouse giving excellent protection from the weather and superb all-round visibility. Designed for comfortable coastal cruising, she is particularly well-suited to extended stays aboard.
Entering from the cockpit, you step down into the raised wheelhouse/deck saloon area, which is the defining feature of this model. This bright and airy space typically houses the internal steering position to starboard, allowing sheltered helming in poor weather, together with occasional seating and excellent visibility through the surrounding windows.
Forward of the wheelhouse is the main saloon, arranged on a split-level layout. The saloon is spacious with good headroom, featuring comfortable settee berths to port around a central folding dining table, allowing seating for up to six people. There is excellent locker and under-seat stowage throughout, making her suitable for longer cruising periods. The teak-style interior joinery gives a warm, traditional feel while remaining practical and durable.
The galley is positioned to starboard close to the wheelhouse area, arranged in a safe and practical linear layout. It includes a 2-burner gas cooker with oven and grill, stainless steel sink with pressurised hot and cold water supply, 12v fridge, and generous storage for provisions and cookware. Its secure location makes cooking underway much easier.
Sleeping accommodation is generally for up to six berths in two separate cabins plus the saloon. Forward is a comfortable V-berth double cabin with storage lockers, shelving, and good natural light from the forehatch. A large aft cabin tucked beneath the cockpit sole provides an excellent double berth and very good privacy, making it ideal as the owner’s cabin. Additional berths can be made up in the saloon if required for guests. The layout works particularly well for two couples or a family. This yacht has a Wallas 2400 cabin heating system that was new in 2021. It also has a TV and a stereo/CD Player.
The separate heads compartment is well-sized for a yacht of this era and is fitted with a marine WC, wash basin, shower arrangement, mirror, and storage lockers. Good ventilation and practical access make it comfortable for extended cruising.
Overall, the Hunter Horizon 32 Wheelhouse combines the sailing ability of a proper cruiser with the comfort and shelter of a small motor-sailer, offering generous accommodation, excellent visibility, and a very practical cruising layout that remains highly desirable today.
