This example is currently afloat and ready for viewing. She benefits from a replacement engine fitted in 2005, Kemp sails fitted in 2013 which remain in good condition, an epoxy-coated hull and a recently replaced cutlass bearing.

This Westerly Centaur offers comfortable accommodation for up to six people spread across two cabins.

The forepeak features a vee berth with convenient under-berth storage. The forepeak also benefits from shelf storage to both sides of the berth.

Moving aft, there is a separate Head's compartment equipped with a marine toilet 

Continuing towards the stern, the saloon offers a central table, surrounded by an L-shaped settee on the port side, offering convenient under-seat and shelf storage behind. The port settee easily transforms into a double berth. The saloon has 6ft of headroom and green coloured upholstery

Positioned on the starboard side within the saloon, the galley has a gimbaled 2-burner Plastimo gas stove with oven and grill, a single white sink supplied with manual cold water, and ample storage space including a coolbox. Adjacent to the galley sits a quarter berth. Additionally, there is a quarter berth on the port side as well.

History & Construction:

Constructed by Westerly Yachts in circa 1975 to a Laurent Giles design. Featuring a green-painted GRP hull adorned with a teak rubbing strake, self-draining cockpit, and white GRP decks with by grey non-slip surfaces. Its stability is ensured by cast iron twin bilge keels, with tiller steering and skeg rudder. 

This Westerly Centaur has been enjoyed by the current owner for the past 44 years.

Sails and Spars:

This Westerly Centaur features a masthead Bermudan sloop rig, with a deck-stepped aluminium mast and boom with stainless steel standing rigging. The standing rigging was replaced in 2019, but the age of the running rigging is unknown. Equipped with a Rotostay furling headsail and a slab reef mainsail with a stackpack and a manually adjustable backstay, this vessel allows for efficient sailing in various conditions.

Mechanical Systems:

The Westerly Centaur is equipped with a Nanni 2.5 HE 14HP  diesel engine fitted in 2005, powering a shaft-driven three-bladed fixed propeller with a rope cutter. and VSR controlled charging circuit This engine is supplied by a 45 Litre plastic fuel tank, and is operated via Morse controls. This Westerly Centaur should expect a cruising speed of approximately 4.5 knots, with a maximum speed of approximately 6 knots. The current engine hours are unknown.  The engine was last serviced in 2023 when the cutlass bearing and anodes were last changed. 

Electrical Systems:

This Westerly Centaur is equipped with two 12-volt batteries, comprising one for engine use 70AH new in 2023 and one for domestic purposes 90 AH. These batteries charge directly from the engine alternator. There is a battery monitoring system with a NASA BM-1 monitor.
