Boat Overview


The Wauquiez 37 is a fast, capable offshore cruiser/racer designed by renowned naval architect Britten Chance. It is well built with a beautiful teak interior, offering excellent sea keeping capabilities and ease of sailing, whether short or single handed.


This yacht is beautifully presented with a replacement Beta Marine 30hp diesel engine fitted new in 2020, featuring extremely low hours. It also benefits from replacement standing rigging in 2024, new heating, calorifier, batteries, various electronics, and much more.

Accommodation


The accommodation offers up to five berths in two cabins with 6′ headroom.


Steps lead down from the cockpit to a galley on the starboard side, which includes twin stainless steel sinks with hot and cold pressurized water, a refrigerated cool box, a Plastimo two-ring gas cooker with oven and grill, and plentiful storage above and below. A chart table is located to port with a quarter berth behind. The U-shaped dinette to starboard features a drop leaf table that converts to a double berth, with a settee berth opposite. A skylight/hatch is above.


The companionway includes two large lockers to port, with the heads compartment opposite featuring a Lavac marine toilet, a vanity unit with a stainless steel sink, and a hot and cold mixer tap with a pull-out shower (new electric shower waste pump fitted 2024). There are storage cupboards above and below, along with an opening portlight.


The forward cabin includes a V berth forward with an infill, storage above and below, and an opening hatch to the foredeck.


Teak and holly sole boards are complemented by carpet runners, curtains, and interior lighting. A Pioneer radio/CD player and warm air diesel-fired heating are also included.



Mechanical and Electrical Systems


Located beneath the companionway, the Beta Marine 30hp three-cylinder diesel engine was fitted new in 2020 (exact hours run not specified). It features electric start, freshwater cooling via a heat exchanger, and shaft drive to a fixed pitch, three-blade propeller. Single lever engine controls and a rope cutter are included. The approximate cruising speed is 6 knots, with a maximum speed of 7 knots.

Sails, Spars and Rigging


The yacht features a masthead rigged sloop with a keel-stepped aluminium mast and boom by Sailspar. The stainless steel standing rigging was replaced in 2024, with Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing is used for the main, and Sailspar headsail furling gear is included, along with a spinnaker pole and jockey pole.

Construction


Built in 1973 by Henri Wauquiez to a design by Britten Chance, the yacht features a white GRP hull with a style line, a teak toe rail, and cockpit locker tops. The white GRP superstructure has painted non-slip decks. It has a lead fin keel, tiller steering to a skeg-hung rudder, and an aft self-draining cockpit. Self-draining anchor and gas lockers are included. A survey dated October 2024 is available upon request.
