Hunter Pilot 27

< Back to search

Description

The Hunter Pilot 27 is the only true deck saloon yacht of her size, offering all round vision from the saloon, twin steering positions and a genuinely practical cruising layout in a boat that can be handled comfortably single or short-handed. "Tiff 2" is offered by her original owner, having been in the same hands since new in 2000, and has been maintained accordingly. Her sails are all recent and her standing rigging was renewed in 2015. Her twin keels give her the shoal draft that makes the Thames Estuary and the East Coast creeks so accessible. One owner boats of this quality rarely come to market and early viewing is recommended.

Accommodation

Four berths in three cabins with standing headroom in the saloon. The forward cabin has a double berth with hanging locker and stowage. Coming aft is the raised deck saloon, the heart of the boat, with C-shaped seating and saloon table to port and the galley to starboard. All round vision from the saloon windows — a rare and much appreciated feature in a yacht of this size, and one that extends the cruising season considerably. An inside steering position is located aft of the galley to starboard with wheel, engine controls, plotter and electrical systems. The galley is equipped with a two burner gas cooker with oven, cool box, and a stainless steel sink with hot and cold pressurised water served by a 150 litre tank and engine heated calorifier. The heads compartment aft to port is fitted with a Jabsco manual sea toilet, wash basin and shower. A separate aft cabin with large double berth is situated beneath the cockpit. Curtains throughout.

    Construction

Built by British Hunter of Rochford, Essex in 2000 to a design by David Thomas, one of the smallest true deck saloon yachts ever put into series production with only around one hundred built. White GRP hull and decks with moulded-in non-slip surfaces. Transom hung rudder. Twin steering positions: hydraulic wheel steering at the inside helm within the saloon and a tiller in the cockpit, allowing the boat to be steered under cover in poor weather or from the cockpit in fine. Hunter's asymmetric bulbed, cast iron twin keels, angled to generate lift as the boat heels and giving a draft of 3.1ft. Aft self-draining cockpit. Anodes last replaced 2026 and last antifouled 2025.
