Sadler 29

The Sadler 29 has a well-earned reputation for excellent handling and vice free performance. 'Gladys' has been cruised locally around the East Coast by her experienced owner during his six years of ownership.

Accommodation

Six berths in two cabins with approx. 5'10" max. headroom. V berth forward with infill making a comfortable double. Heads compartment located forward of the saloon to port with Jabsco sea toilet and basin with vanity and stowage. Large hanging locker opposite the heads. Saloon with folding leaf central table and to port a large C-shaped settee that converts to a double berth. To starboard is a bench seat with a trotter box and can be used as a single berth. The navigation area is to starboard of the companionway with forward facing chart table with stowage. Aft of the chart table is the quarter berth. To starboard is the galley, equipped with two burner gas stove with grill and oven, stainless steel wash basin with hand pumped fresh water and a cool box.

Mechanical Systems

Volvo Penta 2002, two cylinder, 18hp diesel engine located under companionway steps. Raw water cooled. Shaft drive via P-bracket to fixed two blade propeller. Rope cutter to shaft. Single lever Morse controls. 15 gallon stainless steel fuel tank. Serviced annually.

Electrical Systems

2 x 12 volt batteries (both new 2025) charging from engine alternator. Interior lighting.

Sails and Spars

Masthead rigged. Silver anodised aluminium, single spreader, deck stepped mast and boom. Stainless steel standing rigging (age unknown). Removable inner forestay for storm jib. Terylene running rigging. Slab reefing mainsail. Furlex headsail furling system. Telescopic spinnaker pole. 2 x Lewmar 40 self-tailing sheet winches. 2 x Lewmar 7 and single Lewmar 16 halyard winches on coachroof.

Construction

Built by Sadler Yachts in 1988 to a design by David Sadler, famously marketed as "unsinkable" due to the twin skin design. White GRP hull and superstructure with teak rubbing strake. Cream painted non-slip deck surfaces. Tiller steering to transom hung rudder with full length skeg. Cast iron shallow fin keel. Self-draining aft cockpit. Teak slats to cockpit seats.
