BENETEAU Oceanis 40

AZUR is a 2008 Beneteau Oceanis 40 that has been set up and enjoyed as a comfortable family cruiser. Her three-cabin layout offers plenty of accommodation, with a light and spacious interior and a practical, sociable cockpit. She presents particularly well below decks, with limited wear for her age, while recent attention to her teak decks, canvas and standing rigging is a welcome addition. Easy to handle and with plenty of space both above and below decks, AZUR is a well-equipped and comfortable yacht, ideally suited to family and friends cruising.

Construction

RCD Status: The yacht conforms with the essential safety requirements of Directive 94/25EC and is categorised A – “Ocean”

Hull, Deck & Superstructure Construction:

• GRP hull construction.
• Dark blue hull with white superstructure.
• Non-skid texturing to GRP on coachroof and around cockpit.
• Teak laid deck and cockpit (cleaned August 2026).
• Teak coachroof grab rails and toe-rails (cleaned August 2026).

Keel & Rudder:

• Fin keel with cast iron bulb.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 1 x Yanmar 3JH4E three-cylinder diesel engine, rated at 40hp.
• Fresh-water engine cooling via a seawater heat exchanger.

• Engine Hours: 578.8 as of August 2020 service record (hour meter now faulty).
• Serviced September 2026.

• Overhead lighting throughout the saloon, galley, heads, and cabins.

Accommodation

Summary of Accommodation:

• Accommodation for 7 guests in three double cabins and saloon.
• Cream upholstery throughout, with approximately 1.9m of interior headroom.
• All cabin windows are fitted with either drop-down curtains or sliding blinds/insect screens, as appropriate.

 

Bow Cabin:

• The bow cabin features a V-berth with a mirror at the foot of the berth.
• There is a fixed portlight to either side, both fitted with drop-down curtains, along with a large opening deck hatch above incorporating a blind and insect screen.
• Storage is provided by a hanging locker aft of the berth to port.
• Aft of the berth to starboard is the forward heads compartment, fitted with a manual marine toilet, wet-room style shower tray and a pull-out tap which also serves as the shower.
• Further storage is provided within the heads compartment.

Saloon:

• Aft of the bow cabin is the main saloon, with a wrap-around seating and dining area to starboard and a folding saloon table.
• A central settee incorporates useful storage and can be moved aside, providing easier access through the saloon and past the galley.
• Additional storage is provided outboard of the seating.
• Two small opening portlights provides ventilation, with a fixed portlight below.
• This arrangement is mirrored to port.
• Overhead are two large skylight windows, with a large opening deck hatch aft providing further light and ventilation.
• The galley is situated to port and is equipped with a gas hob and burners, twin stainless-steel sinks, and a large top-loading fridge/cooler.
• There is good galley storage throughout, together with a microwave mounted above the fridge.
• Additional shallow storage beneath the saloon floor provides useful pantry space.
• Aft of the galley is a forward-facing chart table and navigation station, with a comfortable seat and access to the electrical control panel, VHF radio, and stereo system.
• To starboard is the aft heads compartment, fitted with a marine toilet, opening portlight and separate shower compartment.
• Engine access is provided by lifting the companionway steps, with additional access panels located within each of the aft cabins.

Aft Cabins:

• Aft and to starboard of the saloon is a double-berth cabin with storage provided by a hanging locker and a series of storage cubbies alongside the berth.
• The cabin has three portlights, two of which are opening, and a Jack and Jill door providing direct access to the aft heads compartment.
• Beneath the berth is a heating outlet, together with excellent access to the battery isolator switches.
• The port aft cabin is a near mirror image of the starboard cabin, with a double berth, hanging locker and additional storage.
