Southerly 420, OVO represents a rare opportunity to purchase a newly launched 2026 Humphreys-designed Southerly 420. Recently launched this summer, she has completed her trials and handover and is now available for immediate purchase. Beautifully built by Concept Marine Projects and specified for safe, comfortable extended cruising, she features a smart grey hull, white superstructure, synthetic teak deck and Seldén carbon rig. Her Doyle Stratis sails are easily managed with electric furling and winches, while comprehensive Raymarine navigation provides the latest sailing instruments and chartplotters. Below deck, she is equipped for serious blue-water cruising with a generator, watermaker, air conditioning and washer/dryer. Construction

Hull Construction:

• Heavy-duty GRP moulding, hand laid up to a precise laminating system increasing progressively towards the keel area.
• All main bulkheads bonded into the hull at the main lay-up stage.
• 1-year manufacturer's warranty and 5-year hull guarantee against osmosis.
• Hull gelcoat in Agate Grey (RAL 7038).
• Coppercoat antifouling applied below the waterline to hull, keel, and rudders.
• Substantial skeg fitted on the centreline to protect the propeller.
• Tube incorporated in hull for optional stern thruster.

 

Deck Construction:

• Hand laid up GRP sandwich construction using foam core stiffening.
• Marine plywood backing used in high-stress areas where fittings are positioned.
• Heavily stressed areas additionally reinforced with unidirectional glass reinforcement.
• The deck is bonded to the hull along its entire length and to all main bulkheads, resulting in a strong, integrated unit.
• Topsides gelcoat in White (RAL 9010).
• Deck saloon design.
• Evo Teak laid to side decks, foredeck, and cockpit.
• Self-draining cockpit.

 

Keel & Rudder:

• The keel box is an integral unit incorporating multi-axial and unidirectional reinforcements.
• The variable-draught keel is a solid cast iron and lead aerofoil fin, pivoted in the grounding plate and raised by a hydraulic hoist. This enables the keel to be set at intermediate points or fully retracted into the hull at the touch of a button.
• Fixed ballast: cast iron grounding plate plus transverse and longitudinal stiffening members fitted into hull recess.
• Keel control and position indicator panel located at the helm station.
• Semi-balanced twin rudders and steering system with stainless steel propeller shaft; emergency steering system included.

Machinery

Engine & Gearboxes:

• 1 x Yanmar 4JH57 diesel engine.
