Beneteau Oceanis 37, Built late 2008 to the 2009 spec. - £76,950
The Beneteau Oceanis 37 is a thoroughly modern family cruiser. This late 2008 example features the premium "Elegance" trim level with a full teak deck, among other refinements.
She has the single aft-cabin "owners" layout, giving a roomier feel to the accommodation with two good-sized double cabins, and a deep keel providing excellent performance.
In the present ownership since 2021, she presents beautifully; dry, clean and with excellent woodwork. New standing and running rigging in 2024 and a new furling genoa (also in 2024), plus many other replacements and upgrades.

Accommodation

Forward cabin: This, the ‘owner’s version, offers a centre-line berth ahead of a generous cabin sole area, with vanity unit (with dedicated stool) and overhead closed cave lockers to port side, while a half-height hanging locker and fiddled shelves are fitted to starboard. There is also provision of a drawer for storage beneath the berth without having to disturb the mattresses. Light and ventilation from above, with an ambient ventilator being fitted to the usual opening deck hatch. A good quality ‘Ocean Air’ blackout blind/insect screen is fitted to the head-lining.

Saloon: A spacious accommodation space, this main cabin is light and airy being lit with two fixed hull ports combining well with three overhead decklight/ opening hatches. The light and welcoming ambience is enhanced by cream-coloured ‘leather’-style seating that contrasts nicely with a light-toned, but warm wood veneer. U-shaped seating is provided around the port side of a relatively large, double leafed table, opposite a straight, full-length settee/berth to starboard. There is top access to the seating locker behind to port, again enabling access without too much disruption.

Nav area: Facing aft, the chart table can be sat at on the aft end of the starboard settee. The surface is surrounded by a deep fiddle to hold things in place, with stowage within. Three closed locker doors provide surface area for instrumentation to be fitted at eye-level, although in this instance the space behind the doors remains used for storage. All the primary instrumentation being fitted outside in the cockpit, with a single multi-head repeater at the chart table.

Galley Area: Located to port side and L-shaped in form, the galley features an expansive peninsular, with twin sinks notably placed and orientated such that they can be worked at, either from abaft, or from the end of the peninsular, thereby enabling two persons to be working at the galley at the same time. There is a smaller, fiddled surface abaft the cooker’s gimballing aperture too. A front opening 12v refrigerator is provided, and a further top opening storage compartment with a handy reversible lid – one side work surface/the other a fibre chopping board.
A large locker door to the end of the peninsular opens to access large fiddled shelves, opposite yet more enclosed shelving within the chart table’s supporting base. This, featuring cutlery storage and deep shelving for pan stowage. A 240v Microwave oven is located in a locker above the chart table, and a relatively large rubbish bin is door-hung beneath the main working area.
The galley is provided with good over-head ventilation, with two opening portlights being fitted within the long-styled fixed window to the port side of the coach roof. A two-burner gas cooker with oven is gimballed behind a stainless steel crash-bar and there is provision for a ‘bum’-strap to support the cook when on port tack.

Heads compartment: In this, the owner’s single aft cabin version, there is more volume to enable the heads compartment to be more generous, with the showering area separated from a ‘drying’ area by hinged acrylic panel. Good light and ventilation levels are offered by two opening portlights and the closed lockers, all being mirror-fronted lends a sense of space too.

Aft cabin: A wide double berth offers equal headroom to both occupants by being orientated athwartships abaft the engine space, with the ‘head’ end being under the height afforded by the port side’s cockpit coaming. Opening portlights to the transom and to the cockpit let light and ventilation to the space. An independent leather cover seat, ahead of the berth itself, provides for sitting down to put on socks etc. without having to sit on the berth itself. A half-height locker offers clothes hanging in this cabin.
