The Southerly 110 with her aft cockpit, plumb bow line and twin rudder configuration, combined with her sail plan, makes her a fast, fun and exhilarating yacht to sail. Whitlock direct steering, combined with the twin rudder arrangement, gives instantly responsive steering, making helming this yacht a real pleasure. Even when the wind increases and gusts attempt to push her off course, the hull form and deep draft of the Swing Keel enable her to stand up to the wind and carry her canvas, whilst the twin rudders give exceptional directional stability and control. In fact, the Southerly 110 is so light on the helm she will sail herself most of the time.
The unique Swing Keel provides deep draft performance (deeper than most yachts), for powerful windward performance. The keel can be raised to just 2'4'' for shallow draft freedom, allowing you to explore shallower coastal areas and inland waters. As with all Southerly’s, the yacht will also dry out and sit upright.

Saloon: A spacious accommodation space, this main cabin is light and airy being lit with two fixed hull ports each side combining well with five overhead decklight/ opening hatches. The light and welcoming ambience continues with Royal blue Alcantara upholstery that contrasts nicely with a light-toned, but warm wood veneer.
C-shaped seating on the port side around a relatively large, double-leafed table, opposite a straight, full-length settee/berth to starboard fitted with a lee-cloth.

Mechanical and Electrical Systems
Yanmar 3GM30 29Hp three-cylinder, indirectly cooled and naturally aspirated marine diesel engine is fitted and drives a three-bladed Max-Prop feathering propeller with rope cutter through a conventional shaft.
Currently, an hour meter records approx. 1432 hours run from new. The engine has been fully serviced annually - Last Service Winter 2025

Variable Draft Keel:
The fixed ballast is an iron casting which acts as a grounding plate and transverse stiffening for the keel unit. It is fitted into a moulded recess in the hull in the area of the keel box with stainless steel fastenings. The aerofoil keel blade is cast iron and incorporates a stainless steel pivot at the leading edge.

Variable draft is achieved by raising and lowering the blade with an electrically driven pump, fitted with a manual back-up. All hydraulics are easily accessible for maintenance. The keel control is fitted at the helm pedestal with a gauge showing the keel position. A removable stainless steel pin enables the keel to be locked in the “up” position, for example for winter storage.

Rig and Sails
Selden aluminium alloy double spreader mast & boom - this yacht was specified from new with the taller rig, the mast is approx. 1.5 meters taller than the standard model for enhanced performance.

The hull and rig of the 110 incorporate the latest in HYD’s design thinking, which has evolved over many years of experience.
The Southerly 110 sets high standards of performance versatility and good looks for a yacht in this class, and appeals to family and cruising yachtsmen equally. Like other models in the series, she has the signature Southerly swing keel which broadens her sailing opportunities immensely, as she can explore shallow waters with the keel raised but still make confident passage in high seas with the keel lowered to its maximum draught of 2.18m.
On board, the aft cockpit, plumb bow line and twin rudder configuration combine with an impressive sail plan to make this yacht exhilarating to sail. The single-wheel direct steering with twin rudder arrangement offers instantly responsive helming and she is easily managed by a crew of just two. When the wind increases and gusts attempt to push her off course, the hull form and swing keel enable her to embrace the elements in her canvas while the twin rudders give good directional stability and control. In fact, the Southerly 110 is so light on the helm she can sail herself much of the time.
