If you have any questions about the application process or Membership requirements, please contact the ABYA Membership Coordinator at membership@abya.co.uk.
Applications are assessed by members of the ABYA Committee to ensure that applicants meet the professional standards required for their chosen grade of Membership.
As part of the assessment process, applicants may be invited to attend an online Assessment Panel via Microsoft Teams. This provides an opportunity to discuss their application, supporting documentation and professional experience in more detail.
Following the assessment, constructive feedback will be provided through the ABYA office. Where appropriate, assessors may also offer to discuss their comments directly with applicants, providing guidance and support to help them achieve the required standard for Membership.
We require members at all grades of professional membership to hold appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance. This PI Insurance is to cover a minimum of £100,000 each and every claim or £250,000 aggregate and cover the work done by the ABYA Member, and includes sufficient legal costs cover as well as boat value.
